$300,00.00 SETTLEMENT – NEGLIGENT OPERATION OF A BOAT

Maritime Case

Client visiting South Florida for business went on a charter to fish with co-workers.  The Captain of the boat failed to monitor the weather reports and the vessel was struck by a rogue wave throwing my client violently up in the air and when he landed sustained a horrific lower leg injury requiring surgery.

In filing the law suit, the Defendants responded by filing a Federal Law suit called “Limitation of Liabilities”. This law suit is generally filed by the owner of the boat where they attempt to limit the case to the value of the vessel involved. This case was settled for the boat owner's policy limits of $300,000.

Auto Accident

Rear end motor vehicle collision involving two men in their early 20's that resulted in back surgery for each client. Property damage was less than $150.00.

Wrongful Death

Zigler Law represented a client who was involved in a rear-end collision with a well-known air condition company. This client proceeded to get significantly worse after sustaining neck and back injuries. Surgery was imminent. She initially had the neck surgery and was making a fine recovery, however after having back surgery she suffered a pulmonary embolism and sadly passed away. Her death was a tragic event for her family. Previously, our client had shed over 175 lbs doing Quick Weight Loss to reduce her maximum weight from 300 lbs to 175 lbs. After the accident and the surgery, she put on a significant amount of weight. After the second surgery, she suffered the pulmonary embolism.
